S.U.N.’S REACTION TO PREMIER CALLING ELECTION
Sherwood Park, Alberta: “Seniors United Now is extremely disappointed,” says President Ron Ellis, “that the Premier has called an election without having kept his promise to restore Seniors benefits of 1992, once the provincial debt was paid off.”
“The Seniors exemption for payment of Health Care Premiums was restored as of October 1, but none of the other benefits have been reinstated” Ellis notes.
He says “SUN will follow its program announced last year of urging electors to support candidates who are committed to act upon the needs, concerns and challenges that affect all Seniors.”
Ellis points out that “there are almost 333,000 Albertans aged 65 and over, plus another large group in the 55-65 range. These voters and their extended families will cast a very large proportion of ballets in the November 22 election.”
Ron Ellis
SUN President
