Provincial Budget was a Black Tie Affair

I was pleased to attend the provincial budget speech on behalf of Seniors United Now. Though it was not a black tie affair, by coincidence I did wear a black suit and it was appropriate. This was a black and sad day for seniors. In a budget heavy on spending there was little reference to assisting the elderly or seniors issues.

The vast majority of seniors are fiercely independent and will steadfastly suffer in silence. They stubbornly cling to old values. Work hard, take care of your family and neighbours and all will be well in the world. In time, our elected officials will use compassionate, rational and honest thinking and actions to deal with seniors concerns.

Apparently not!

Seniors United Now or SUN as we are more commonly referred to is a non-profit, non-partisan, province wide organization. Our vision is to be a leading resource and advocate on seniors’ issues.
