Affordable Supportive Living Initiative…a start.
Sep 19, 2007 --

The Alberta Seniors United Now Society welcomes the provincial government initiative announced on September 12th, 2007 to provide help to low and moderate income seniors and persons with disabilities age in their communities with the investment of $30 million dollars.

We trust this is the first of many ongoing initiatives that deal with seniors’ housing. We believe it is not only time to invest dollars to enable seniors to stay in their own communities but, also to stay in their own homes in their communities as long as possible.   This could be accomplished by providing interest free loans to enable seniors to complete necessary repairs, maintenance and modifications to their homes.  This loan would be repayable upon the sale of their homes.  Such an approach would improve quality of life and relieve stress for families and the seniors who would be enabled to remain in their homes & in their communities with this assistance.

Seniors United Now or SUN as we are more commonly referred to is a non-profit, non-partisan, province wide organization. Our vision is to be a leading resource and advocate on seniors’ issues.
