Robert retired as a teacher and Coordinator in 2003 from Grande Prairie College Adult Upgrading in the Grande Cache Campus.
Prior to the eleven years working there, he spent 30 years teaching mainly at the secondary level in rural western Alberta and Edmonton. His main subjects were social studies and English. In the early 1970’s he served as vice-principal of Niton Junction School.
Robert also worked in politics mainly at the local level, running for MLA 1971. Also, he coached volleyball and basketball at the junior and senior high school level, followed the fortunes of the Edmonton Eskimos and Oilers, and spent time writing both fiction and non-fiction, some of it published.
Since retiring, he has become involved in Provincial politics again, and with various senior organizations such as SWESA, Heritage Senior Centre and SUN.
He served in political offices such as president, treasurer, and Financial Agent for Edmonton-Rutherford for three Provincial elections. He is also co-chair of South Edmonton SUN Chapter and now a member of the Provincial SUN Board.
